Included in the Probation Department’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program plan are funds to assist in reducing the Juvenile Hall population, providing an alternative to detention for up 30 minors at any one time who are going through the court process. The program currently operates with a Deputy Probation Officer and Probation Aide to provide screening and supervision, and the services of FENIX, Inc., a community-based organization that provides wrap-around services such as counseling, recreation, education, and parent education.
