PAP and AP (Pre-Advanced and Advanced) courses are offered for 6-12 grades. These courses are established with the goal of offering more strenuous and challenging courses that better prepare students for eventual attendance at a University. Teachers are required to attend special training and receive certification in order to teach these classes. Consider the following before voluntarily signing up for a Pre-AP or AP course:

The Advanced Placement curriculum consists of college-level classes taught at the high school by high school teachers with additional training and/or certification. AP exams are administered nationwide in May. Many, but not all, colleges award credit or allow a student to be exempt from certain college courses if the student scores a 3, 4, or 5 on the AP exam. Students should check the AP admission policy for their college of choice PRIOR to registering for an AP course at Grayson High School.
