Contract Type FiledApril 9th, 2008The Borough of Reigate and Banstead is located due south of London and within the Metropolitan Green Belt. It extends from Greater London in the north to West Sussex in the South. Of its 50 square miles 70% comprises green space and open countryside. The Borough is crossed from east to west by the escarpment if the North Downs, a designated Area of Outstanding natural Beauty and the Greensand ridge. Together these divide the chalk uplands of Banstead and its numerous villages in the north from the Weald to the south. Immediately to the south lie the towns of Reigate and Redhill and the village of Merstham. Further south the Borough falls within the Weald and in this area is the town of Horley and the parish of Salfords and Sidlow.
