On 30 December 1999, the China-Vietnam land border delimitation treaty was signed in Hanoi by the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cam and his Chinese counterpart Duong Gia Trien on behalf of their respective Governments. The agreement marks an encouraging start to Sino-Vietnamese relations in the new millenium.
