Late in the evening of March 25, 2020, the United States Senate passed a $2.2 trillion stimulus measure aimed at providing much-needed relief to the American people and businesses in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES ACT) is the largest federal response in history and provides direct financial help to Americans; immediate assistance for hospitals, healthcare first responders, and patients; support for small businesses; and assistance for distressed industries.
