We provide new empirical data about gender agreement for French determiners and adjectives in case of nominal coordination. We show that closest conjunct agreement is sensitive to grammatical factors such as adjective position and noun animacy and differs from attraction errors. We propose that it should be integrated as a strategy in the grammar.
