TOPIC STRENGTHS AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDED ACTION Current delivery case load/ mgmt:• Normal; Assisted; C-Sections• Complicated cases• Management of labor/records• Referral• Poor patients Currently 21 OB/GYN bed- will be 50Total deliveries in 2004- 1816Jan ’05: Obstructed labor- 25; Eclampsia 9;retained placenta 24Have copies of partogram- in Madam’s office Have own ambulanceFree hospital- but often have to buy meds, etc Female patient load- 100+- need more space/ beds; C-sections= 561 (31%)- quite high Vacuum/forceps/dest = 32 Appropriate use ofVacuum extraction could lower the C/S rate Partogram not used- doctors make notes on patient ‘ticket’- nurses don’t seem to do regular observations in labor Improve community awareness of value of skilled attendance at birth.Improve referral links from TBA’s, Union Health Centers and MCWCRefresher training on Ventouse delivery for doctors and ?EOC trained midwives Separate area for general female patients Staff:• Staffing• Staff qualifica
