Instruments of ratification were exchanged and the treaty entered into force on November 16, 1978. The full text of the agreement is as follows:

Contract Type FiledFebruary 21st, 2002The Governments of the Kingdom of Norway and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics have signed and ratified an Agreement and a Descriptive Protocol relating to the division of the continental shelf in the Varangerfjord. The Agreement, signed on February 15, 1957, established a Joint Soviet-Norwegian Boundary Commission to designate reference points from which the sea frontier between the two countries in the Varangerfjord could be demarcated. Ratifications were exchanged and the Agreement came into force on April 24, 1957. The Descriptive Protocol signed on November 29, 1957, specifies the demarcation of the sea frontier. The latter came into force on March 17, 1958, after the ratifications were exchanged.

Ratifications were exchanged on January 29, 1969, at which time the Agreement came into force.1

Ratifications were exchanged and the Agreement came into force on May 25, 1966. Both Finland and the Soviet Union are parties to the 1958 Geneva Convention on the Continental Shelf.

Contract Type FiledFebruary 21st, 2002The Government of the Shaykhdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed an Agreement on February 22, 1958, dividing the continental shelf in the Persian Gulf between the two countries. The two Governments also agreed to share equally in the income from the exploitation of petroleum resources in the Fasht bu Saafa Hexagon, which is located in Saudi Arabian waters. Ratifications were exchanged on February 26, 1958, and the Agreement then came into force.

The Agreement entered into force on March 15, 1968, after exchange of ratifications. Both Finland and the Soviet Union are parties to the 1958 Geneva Convention on the Continental Shelf.

Since the establishment of the Agreement, the then British colony of Trinidad and Tobago has become the independent country of Trinidad and Tobago. The new country acceded to the provisions of the Agreement. Both Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela are parties to the Geneva Convention on the Continental Shelf.
