The Council is scheduled to conduct the First Reading of the Contract Rezoning Agreement recommended by the Belfast Planning Board for the proposed purchase and reuse of the former Church/NTWH property located at 17 Court Street, Map 11, Lot 255. Ann Sterling and Andrew Abrams propose to purchase the property and to use such as a residence and as a retail store to support the operation of the Peace Ridge Sanctuary in Brooks, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing a home for neglected and abused animals.

Hunziker Development Group, the owner of 28.58 acres of property located at 798 North 500th Avenue, has applied to amend the previously approved Rezoning Master Plan for the North Sunset Ridge development. The site is located to the north of the existing Sunset Ridge Subdivision (Attachment A - Location Map). The property is located on land annexed to the City in February 2022. The current zoning of Floating Suburban Residential Low-Density (FS-RL) and Master Plan was approved by the City Council on August 9, 2022 (Attachment C - Zoning Map excerpt; Attachment D – Existing Master Plan).

The Belfast City Council, at its meeting of October 1, 2019, approved the First Reading of the Contract Rezoning Agreement for the Paul Naron project located on the Belfast waterfront. The Council also approved an Agreement (the 10-1-19 Agreement) that was intended to modify certain terms of the Contract Rezoning Agreement.
