The Cotonou Agreement and its Implications for the Regional Trade Agenda in Eastern and Southern AfricaCotonou Agreement • June 20th, 2003
Contract Type FiledJune 20th, 2003Sub Regional Trade Arrangements (RTA) in Eastern and Southern Africa have proliferated in the past 10 to 15 years. The small size of most of the countries in the region, some of which are landlocked, and the security needs in the post independence period largely explain the rapid expansion. Contract Type FiledNovember 7th, 2020The Cotonou Agreement between the European Union (EU) and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries will impede effortsatstrengthening South-South economic collaboration. Despite a large dose of rhetoricabout food security, the Agreement, successor to the Lomé Convention, islikelytoreinforce the structural impediments to food securityinthe AC P countries.
