Safe Deposit Lockers should normally be installed only at offices that are authorized by RO/HO, provided the strong room is constructed as per prescribed specification. If the premise is on the ground floor, defender type safe with safe deposit locker may be provided with the separate enclosures and if the premises are on a higher floor, certificate from the architects regarding load bearing capacity of the floor is necessary and same should be held on record. Guidelines issued byRO/HO from time to time are to be adhered to. Proposal of sanction for installing Lockers should invariably include cost benefit analysis and should also establish the fact that it would generate additional income. The relationship between the banker and the customer of a locker is that of lessor and lessee.
