Evidence shows that regular, high quality early education has lasting benefits for all children in terms of their development and social wellbeing, as well as improving their school readiness for more formal education at age 5. It is, however, most beneficial for those children that experience disadvantage and for this reason there is a Government commitment to ensure all children are able to access provision at times that best support their learning needs regardless of their parents’ ability to pay.
