Contract Type FiledJune 1st, 2018The Gilbert-Baker Wildlife Management Area (WMA), located in northern Sioux County, Nebraska, was acquired by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) in part with grant funds from the Wildlife Restoration Program (WSFR) between 1942 and 1955 (formerly known as Federal Aid). The properties that comprise the 2,535-acre WMA were acquired for the purpose of providing wildlife habitat for mule and white-tailed deer, sharp-tailed grouse, and Hungarian partridge. The WMA is used primarily by big game hunters and is popular for deer, elk and wild turkey hunting (Fig. 1).
