The City has been awarded federal funds under the Transportation Alternatives Program to design and construct a new shared use path along the west side of Old State Road, between Nantucket Meadows Drive to Old State Place. The goal of the project is to provide a continuous pedestrian facility between Old Fairway Drive and Ridge Road (connecting to Rock Hollow Trail) and to provide connections to the subdivisions located along the east side of Old State Road. The current limits of the project are shown below on Exhibit A and on the attached concept plan. The project would include a connection to Waterfront Way, as well as crosswalks connecting with Lake Country Lane and Lakeshore Meadows Drive. The overall length of the project is about 0.7 miles, and the cost estimate is $1.4 M for engineering, easement acquisition and construction, with construction beginning in 2024. BART’s Transbay Corridor Core Capacity Project has been stalled in the Capital Investment Grant (CIG) Program pipeline for over a year due to repeated delays within the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). In December 2017, BART completed all statutory and policy guidance for entry into Engineering and anticipated FTA approval by February 2018. Over 12 months later, BART has yet to receive the “green light” for entry into Engineering, causing schedule delays and project costs to escalate.
