Creative Industries - Free Trade Agreements
Free Trade Agreements • September 10th, 2021

The creative industries are growing at more than twice the rate of the UK economy, generating over £100bn per annum in GVA - greater than the automotive, life sciences, aerospace and oil and gas industries combined. They employ over 2 million people, with jobs in the sector growing at three times the UK average, and produce more than £30bn in service exports (10% of the UK total) and more than £15bn in goods. This value is generated from a diverse range of industries - from architecture and advertising through to video games and film - and from businesses large and small, including a significant entrepreneurial freelance community. 95% of creative businesses employ four people or fewer, and over a third of the sector’s workforce are self-employed.

Free Trade Agreements(FTAs)in East Asia: Past Trend and Current Situation
Free Trade Agreements • March 18th, 2023

Two decades have passed since the formation of a region-wide FTA in East Asia began to be dis- cussed. Two major initiatives, the Trans-Pacific Partnership(TPP)and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP), began to be negotiated, but neither has yet to be enacted, largely because of the opposition by a group of people who would be affected negatively by market opening. Strong polit- ical will of the leaders for establishing a region-wide FTA and appropriate policies to deal with potential losers are needed to successfully realize a region-wide FTA.

Free Trade Agreements and International Production Networks: China and the Automotive Industry1
Free Trade Agreements • March 8th, 2010

It is inconceivable to consider International Production Networks (IPN) in Asia, however it is defined, without taking into account the important role that China plays within such networks. The integration of China into the global economy in general and East Asia in particular has further deepened international production fragmentation to unprecedented levels (Haddad, 2007; Athukorala, 2007). At the turn of the decade, China’s processing exports (exports that are produced from processing and/or assembly of imported inputs) accounted for nearly half of its total exports. In 2006, 51.5% of China’s intra East Asian trade was in machinery products, of which more than half was trade in parts and components. The rate of annual growth in parts and components with its East Asian partners between 1993 and 2006 was a staggering 22.7% (Kimura and Obashi, 2008). The drivers of the proliferation of IPNs as described in earlier chapters can be clearly seen in China. Three drivers of this process as

Bilateral or multilateral free trade agreements have been signed or are being negotiated in many countries. All these agreements have impacts on the peoples, nature and the society. At the same time, they represent legal frameworks that perpetuate a development model that promotes exploitation, unfairness and inequality, while securing rights for corporations.

Free Trade Agreements Have Limited Impact
Free Trade Agreements • May 19th, 2021

Free Trade Agreements between two or more countries or parties have been the centrepiece of international trade policy since the formation of the World Trade Organisation 25 years ago. Since 1995, no major round of multilateral trade liberalisation has been concluded, but there has been a sharp rise in the number of bilateral trade agreements. While some of these agreements have real consequences for trade in services and some administrative rules for trade, most of them do not because they focus mainly on tariffs on industrial and agricultural goods. Yet the economic gains from these reductions are now extremely limited. In fact, it is now difficult to improve the global market in goods by cutting tariffs.

FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS that Kosovo has in the region: Kosovo already has Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Albania and Macedonia (signed in 2003 and 2005, respectively) and free trade without such an agreement is in force with Serbia and Montenegro. With the application of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Agreement, Kosovo will be integrated in a regional market of 14 million people. (FTA signed in 2006) http://www.unmikonline.org/pub/focuskos/jan06/focuskeco3.htm Kosovo - Serbia: There is no single reliable estimate of the volume of trade between Serbia and Kosovo. Serb sources say that in 2007 it was $200 million, mostly Serb exports of construction material and machinery, with smuggling accounting for an additional $50 million a year. Kosovo estimates are much higher at around $750 million, $450 million of that illegal. also in this article:
