PURPOSE: The purpose of this Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) Operating Policy and Procedure (HSCEP OP) is to provide guidance to identify Business Associates (BAs) and obtain written assurances from those BAs in order for TTUHSC El Paso to comply with the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009 (HITECH) and their implementing regulations.
