All students who use a school instrument will agree to have repairs (if needed during the year) done at Wally’s Music Shop on their own time and money. Contact Mr. Arnold if this is an issue. This is so that students in the future can also play these instruments. Parents will not attempt to repair instruments and may be held responsible for damages incurred if repairs are attempted. Wally’s does a quality job with repairs and their pricing is fair. Instruments are due back before school ends. Students who wish to rent their instruments during the summer will have to agree to a separate contract.

Fine Arts Department 23-24 ALMS and WSHS Instrument Rental Contract Dear Parents/Guardians, Should you choose not to rent or purchase an instrument from a local music retailer, we are pleased to provide your child with a school-owned instrument for his/her use during the 2022-23 school year. A rental fee of $35 is charged annually for the maintenance of our school-owned instruments. At the end of the school year, the instrument is to be returned to the school. It can then be reissued for the following year, when a new rental agreement has been completed. Payments can be made in installments, but must be paid in full by December 15th, 2023. This is in addition to the $15 class fee which covers their book and materials such as oils, reeds, and regular maintenance.

SMS has a small collection of instruments for rent that cannot be rented from a music store. These include Tubas, Euphoniums, Bari Sax, Bass Clarinet, and Double French Horns. These instruments will be shared with one student per grade level. For instance one euphonium may be shared with a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student. Because of this, each student is expected to buy their own mouthpiece, reeds, oils, and cleaning supplies.

LISD provides school district owned instruments for double reeds, low woodwinds, select middle and low brass, low strings, and percussion. In addition there may be specialty instruments as well as a limited number of instruments normally provided by individual families. The current maintenance fees are $100 per year for brass, woodwinds, and strings, and $50 per year for percussion. The rates for reduced lunch would be $40 for instrumentalists and $20 for percussionists, and free lunch will be $20 for instrumentalists and $10 for percussionists. If necessary these fees may be paid over time.
