This International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the Slaty Egret (Egretta vinaceigula) was initiated by the Secretariat in 2011 and its compilation was commissioned to BirdLife Botswana. The action planning process was financially supported by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. The Plan has been compiled by Stephanie Tyler with contributions from experts of the species’ range states and international organisations. Drafts of the plan went through rigorous consultations with experts and the AEWA Technical Committee followed by official consultation with governmental officials in the range states. The draft plan was endorsed for submission to MOP5 by the Technical Committee at its 10th meeting in September 2011 and the Standing Committee at its 7th meeting in November 2011.

This draft International Single Species Action Plan (ISSAP) for the Conservation of the Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis) was commissioned to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), United Kingdom. The Action Plan was compiled by a team at WWT headed by Richard Hearn, with contributions from experts of the species’ range states and international organisations.

This International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the North-west European population of the Bewick’s Swan (Cygnus columbianus bewickii) was prepared as part of The Long Journey project led by the DLG Service for Sustainable Land and Water Management of the Netherlands and implemented in collaboration with Wetlands International, its Russia Programme, Swan Specialist Group, the Leningrad State Regional Institute for Nature Conservation and the Leningrad State University, with the financial support from the BBI-MATRA Programme of the former Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (now part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation) and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the Greenland White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons flavirostris) was initiated in 2009 by the Scottish Natural Heritage under the auspices of their Species Action Framework. The Action Plan has been compiled by a team led by David Stroud of the UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee. Drafts of the plan went through rigorous consultations with experts from the species’ range states, international organisations, and the AEWA Technical Committee, followed by official consultation with governmental officials in the range states. The draft plan was endorsed for submission to MOP5 by the Technical Committee at its 10th Meeting in September 2011 and the Standing Committee at its 7th Meeting in November 2011.

DRAFT REVISED INTERNATIONAL SINGLE SPECIES ACTION PLAN FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE NORTHERN BALD IBIS

This International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the Lesser Flamingo (Phoeniconaias minor) was initiated in 2006 and was commissioned to the IUCN-SSC/Wetlands International Flamingo Specialist Group (FSG) and Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT). It has been compiled by Brooks Childress, Chair of the FSG and Research Associate at WWT; Baz Hughes, Head of Species Conservation at WWT; and Szabolcs Nagy, Senior Biodiversity Officer at Wetlands International. The drafts of the plan went through rigorous consultations including comments from experts, CMS Scientific Council Members and the AEWA Technical Committee followed by official consultation with governmental officials from the range states, The draft plan was endorsed by the Standing Committee at its 5th meeting in June 2008 for submission to MOP4.

This International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the Red-breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis) was initiated by the European Commission as an update of the EU Species Recovery Plan for the Red-breasted Goose, which was complemented by the AEWA Secretariat to a flyway level. The Action Plan compilation was commissioned to BirdLife International and the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) and it has been compiled by a team led by Peter Cranswick of WWT. Drafts of the plan went through rigorous consultations with experts from the species’ range states and international organizations, the AEWA Technical Committee, followed by official consultation with governmental officials in the non-EU range states. At the EU-level, the SSAP has been reviewed, consulted and adopted by the Ornis Committee. The draft plan was endorsed for submission to MOP5 by the Technical Committee at its 10th Meeting in September 2011 and the Standing Committee at its 7th Meeting in November 2011.

The AEWA International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the Western Palearctic populations of the Lesser White-fronted Goose was adopted at the 4th Session of the Meeting of the AEWA Parties in 2008 in Madagascar. The Action Plan foresees that a revision should be carried out five years after its adoption.
