On April 1, 2011, the Government of Alberta and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) signed a three-year Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) agreement. This joint initiative focuses on improving the living conditions of Alberta households in need by increasing access to affordable housing that is sound, suitable and sustainable. Through this agreement, the Alberta government and CMHC jointly invested more than $121 million for affordable housing during the 2011-2014 period.

The overall outcome of this joint initiative focuses on improving the living conditions of Alberta households in need by increasing access to affordable housing that is sound, suitable and sustainable. Through this agreement, the Alberta government was provided with over $20 million in annual CMHC funding from 2011 to 2014, totalling over $60 million. Under the terms of the agreement, the Alberta government has matched CMHC’s funding for a combined investment of more than $121 million for the 2011-2014 period.

Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement • October 31st, 2012

In 2011, the Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador signed a three year extension of Federal-Provincial Housing funding under the Investment in Affordable Housing 2011-14 (IAH 11-14). IAH 11-14 provides $40.86 million in Federal-Provincial funding to increase the supply of affordable housing in Newfoundland and Labrador, and provide assistance to allow existing homeowners to improve the condition and affordability of their residences. IAH 11-14 came into effect on April 1, 2011. Under the terms of the agreement, Provinces and Territories have agreed to report publicly on how funding has been spent and progress has been achieved in meeting the objectives outlined within the Agreement.

On April 1, 2014, the Government of Yukon and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) signed a five-year CMHC-Yukon Agreement for Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH). The overall outcome of this joint initiative focuses on improving the living conditions of Yukon households in need by increasing access to affordable housing that is sound, suitable and sustainable. Through this agreement, the Yukon government was provided with $1.575 million in annual CMHC funding from 2014 to 2019, totalling over $7.875 million. Under the terms of the agreement, the Yukon government has matched CMHC’s funding for a combined investment of $15.75 million for the 2014-2019 period.
