The 2009 Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS) is a non-contractual agreement between the Department of Health and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry. The purpose of the PPRS (2009) is to ensure that safe and cost-effective medicines are available on reasonable terms to the NHS in England and Wales. One of the functions of the PPRS (2009) is to improve patients’ access to medicines, by means of prices that better reflect their value, through Patient Access Schemes.
