For the past decade, at minimum, the State College Area School District has partnered with NHS Human Services; a State College based facility offering specialized educational services for students diagnosed with autism and/or emotional disturbances. NHS possesses classes and trained staff that offers self-contained programming for students that cannot be provided given current staffing in the district’s Special Education department. Students are placed with NHS Human Services only after the district, the student’s parents or guardians and NHS have determined that the student will benefit from placement in the NHS School. This partnership was last approved by the Board in August, 2016. By all accounts, the partnership has proven successful.
