Patrol Captains should not be limited by traditional patrol areas within their area of operations. Instead, the decision of where to conduct patrols should be determined through a risk assessment by the Patrol Captain, and is dependent on the environmental conditions, numbers of beach visitors, size of patrol group and any other factors relevant on the day. Patrol Captains should also give consideration to establishing multiple patrol areas, within their club’s area of operations, when patrol group size permits activities such as Outposts and Roving patrols.
