The close bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia has been proven in various sectors, from trade to investment. However, it is undeniable that the two countries also often come into conflict, one of which is related to border issues. This border-related conflict also triggers other related problems, especially the illegal movement of natural and human resources. Border Trade Agreement (BTA) and Border Crossing Agreement (BCA) were then made to overcome these problems. Using the concepts of servitude and liberal internationalism, this study wants to see the impact of BTA and BCA on Indonesia and Malaysia bilateral relations. A case study of sugar and drug smuggling found that the implementation of BTA and BCA had a positive impact on bilateral relations between the two countries. BTA and BCA can become regulatory frameworks that create a fair atmosphere for both countries based on the supremacy of regulations and practices.
