Contract Type FiledJanuary 24th, 2018Louisiana Pinesnakes (LPS) are large, nonvenomous constricting snakes with pointed snouts. They are usually dull yellow, tan, or beige with dark blotches along their back. LPS predominately eat Baird’s Pocket Gophers and are proficient burrowers, and they need sandy, well-drained soils to survive. The majority of LPS have been caught on privately owned land. Currently, LPS are proposed as Threatened by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The final ruling on its listing decision will be announced on or before 6 April 2018.
