Quarterra (formerly LMC) is currently under contract to purchase two properties, a 14.8-acre site located at the southwest corner of Belleview Avenue and Federal Boulevard and the 5.1-acre property directly to the south which is currently the O’Toole’s Garden Center. The 14.8-acre property, formerly known as Columbine Square, has been in a blighted condition since the pre- existing shopping center fell into obsolescence in 2014. Evolving shopping preferences of America’s consumer have caused many traditional retail centers to downsize or close altogether, including Columbine Square. Quarterra plans to reinvigorate the property with more sustainable uses, with an emphasis on residential and integrated commercial space. This will enable the property to help meet the City’s tremendous housing demand as well as create a centralized commercial/retail plaza for residents and the neighborhood to gather.
