As we progress through this global pandemic, Norfolk Public Schools is committed to providing our students with a safe and structured learning environment conducive to student growth. We believe that the best way to provide our students with a quality education to prepare them for their future, is to continue to have students attending in person learning at their school building. We also understand that some families have concerns about sending their children to school during these uncertain times. In an effort to provide those families with an option outside of homeschooling, we have developed a remote learning option. It is important to note that nothing can replace the educational experience a student receives from a trained professional educator in the classroom but if that is not possible for your family during this time, we feel the remote learning option will be the next best alternative. Sevier County School System Remote Learning ContractRemote Learning Contract • July 28th, 2020
For the 2020-21 school year, Sevier County School families may choose to participate in a remote learning option. As all students are expected to maintain sufficient academic progress, this contract outlines the requirements and expectations for participation in remote learning. This contract also serves as an agreement between the parents/student and the school system to conduct the program within the listed guidelines. Failure to comply with these guidelines or to make adequate academic progress within them can result in a placement review and potential truancy proceedings. While Sevier County Schools wants to provide parents/students with the flexibility of choosing such a remote learning option, we must also ensure that those same parents/students understand and agree to the obligations that come with that remote learning path.

The Ironton City School District will conduct its courses both in remote and in-person formats for the 2020-2021 school year. This Remote Learning Contract sets out the requirements and expectations that will be in place for students who select remote learning. In order to plan the logistics and staffing of both options, parents/guardians who intend for their child participate in remote learning must complete and submit the Remote Learning Contract by July 31, 2020. The choice to participate in remote learning will be made on a semester basis. Similarly, students who elect to begin the school year with in person instruction will not be permitted to transition to remote learning until the semester break.
