Contract Type FiledOctober 7th, 2005As part of its mission to prevent injury, illness, and deaths caused by hazards in the workplace, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) established surveillance programs which have helped to enumerate the extent of occupational hazards in the United States. The surveillance programs have also identified many old and new problems that require additional research and prevention efforts. A critical part of the NIOSH surveillance programs is extramural state-based occupational safety and health surveillance activities.
