The purpose of this Acceptable Use Agreement (“Agreement”) is to ensure a safe and appropriate environment for all students. This Agreement notifies parents and students about the acceptable ways in which District Technology may be used. The Corcoran Unified District (“District”) recognizes and supports advances in technology and provides an array of technology resources for students to use to enhance learning and education. While these technologies provide a valuable resource to students, it is important that students’ use of technology be appropriate for school purposes.

Limestone County Schools (District) provides students with access to technology in order to enhance student learning. The term "technology” refers to all forms of hardware, digital devices, software, and accounts. Although cell phones and other personal technology devices can be used for many of the same activities as other forms of technology, additional rules may apply to the possession and use of these communication devices at school. This Acceptable Use Agreement (AUA) applies to all technology, regardless of ownership, used on school property during school hours or during other school-related activities. It also applies to the use of District-owned or managed technology regardless of location or time of day.

Forest Hills School District believes technology and its utilization enhances the quality and delivery of education and is an important part of preparing children for life in the 21st century. The community of technology users must understand that the internet is a global, fluid community that remains largely unregulated. While it is an extremely valuable educational tool, there are sections that are not commensurate with community, school or family standards. However, FHSD believes that the internet’s advantages far outweigh its disadvantages and therefore will provide an internet filtering device which blocks access to a large percentage of inappropriate sites. However, it should not be assumed that users are completely prevented from accessing inappropriate materials or from sending or receiving objectionable communications.
