DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY THESIS ADVISOR AGREEMENT The thesis is the culmination of the MS in Biology program, and a major investment of time and effort on the part of the master’s student. Hence the choice of a thesis advisor is an important step toward completing the thesis and the program, and plays animportant role in the development of the student’s career goals and research interests.A thesis advisor should be chosen by the end of a student’s first fall semester. During the following spring semester, the student begins to work with his/her thesis advisor to form a thesis committee and to develop a thesis proposal, which is presented and defended immediately following this spring semester. The summer and academic year following is occupied largely with thesis research.The following is an attempt to make both parties involved in this adventure aware of his/her expectations and responsibilities. This document certifies that the faculty advisory named below has agreed to serve as the Thesis Advisor for the student named below. This document also certifies that the faculty member authorizes the student named to sign up for thesis hours (FLME 6995 Thesis Production for Moving Image Production Students and FLME 6990 Thesis Research for Moving Image Studies Students). Once completed please submit the document to the Graduate Director for approval.

By signing this form, I agree to be the thesis advisor of the graduate student until completion of the thesis. If a co- advisor is added at a later date, the program office should be notified, and a co-advising agreement form should be signed. Under any circumstances, if the advisor could no longer be the thesis advisor of the student, the student or the advisor should notify the program office. A new agreement must be formed within two weeks between the student and the new advisor.
