Canadian Government Obligations definition

Canadian Government Obligations means direct non-callable obligations of, or guaranteed by, Canada for the payment of which guarantee or obligations the full faith and credit of Canada is pledged.
Canadian Government Obligations means securities that are (x) direct obligations of the Government of Canada or (y) obligations of a Person controlled or supervised by and acting as an agency or instrumentality of Canada the timely payment of which is unconditionally guaranteed by the Government of Canada, which, in either case, are not callable or redeemable at the option of the issuer thereof, and shall also include a depository receipt issued by a bank (as defined in the Bank Act (Canada)), as custodian with respect to any such Canadian Government Obligation or a specific payment of principal of or interest on any such Canadian Government Obligation held by such custodian for the account of the holder of such depository receipt, provided that (except as required by law) such custodian is not authorized to make any deduction from the amount payable to the holder of such depository receipt from any amount received by the custodian in respect of the Canadian Government Obligation or the specific payment of principal of or interest on the Canadian Government Obligation evidenced by such depository receipt.

  • Any interest or other income received on such Canadian Government Obligations or other securities deposited or received hereunder, or from investment and reinvestment of the money, Canadian Government Obligations or other securities deposited or received hereunder shall become part of the property held hereunder and any losses incurred on such investment and reinvestment of such property shall be debited against the property held hereunder.

Canadian Government Obligations means securities that are (x) direct obligations of the Government of Canada for the payment of which its full faith and credit is pledged or (y) obligations of the Person acting as an agency or instrumentality of the Government of Canada, the payment of which is unconditionally guaranteed, as a full faith and credit obligation by the Government of Canada or (z) the direct obligations of any Province of Canada for the payment of which such Province's full faith and credit is pledged, which, in any case, are not callable or redeemable at the option of the issuer thereof.
