Covered illness means clear, visible, identifiable internal or external symptoms of bodily injury, illness or death of a “student” caused by any of the following:

For this purpose, an illness has occurred when it has been investigated, diagnosed or treated or when its signs or symptoms have manifested which will cause an ordinary prudent person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment. In the event of any conflict or discrepancy of opinions relating to the signs or symptoms of an illness and their manifestation between a Physician or Registered Medical Practitioner and the Insured, we will adopt and follow the Physician or Registered Medical Practitioner's professional opinion. In case the Company is not satisfied with such opinion it reserves the right to seek an additional opinion from its panel of doctors.
Covered illness means illness suffered by a Covered Member occurring more than ninety (90) days after the Issue Date or Commencement Date, whichever is later, of this Policy.   • Catastrophic illness or “injury” means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee’s family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.

  • Sickness means an illness or disease diagnosed or treated by a Physician.
