District Seniority definition

District Seniority is defined as the length of continuous service with the Bowling Green City School District beginning with the last date of employment. “Departmental Seniority” is defined as the length of continuous service within the department beginning with the last date of employment in the department. Seniority shall be lost when an employee resigns, retires, or is terminated. The Superintendent shall provide a current seniority list of all employees contained in the bargaining unit to the Union on or before February 1 of each year. The Union shall have thirty (30) calendar days to notify the Superintendent of any needed changes on the list. Each month the Board of Education will inform the Union of personnel changes which affect the seniority list through submission of monthly Board agenda. Substitute employees shall not accumulate seniority. There will be a probationary period of eighty-five (85) work days for new employees to become regular employees.

District Seniority as used in Article 4 is defined as an individual’s total continuous full-time services with the Board regardless of that employee's classification.

Examples of District Seniority in a sentence

  • The most senior minimally qualified volunteer by District Seniority shall be given first consideration.

  • In the event that the Employer is unable to fill the position(s) on a temporary basis with volunteers, the Employer shall assign the least senior employee based upon District Seniority within the identified court office who is minimally qualified to perform the position duties in the court office needing assistance for the duration of the temporary assignment which shall not exceed six (6) months.

  • In the event there are no volunteers, the least senior employee based upon District Seniority within the identified court office who is minimally qualified to perform the position’s duties shall be reassigned.

  • Any lay-off of personnel initiated will be made on the inverse order of seniority as provided in the Fire District Seniority List.

  • The name shall be retained on the District Seniority List for a minimum of one year or for a period of time equal to the employee’s District Seniority to a maximum of four (4) years.
