Seniority definition

Seniority means length of service with the Employer.
Seniority means the length of an employee’s continuous employment service as a bargaining unit employee. Seniority is calculated from the first day worked by the employee as set forth in this Article, and shall include the time spent on approved leaves of absence. Such credit shall be on the basis of one (1) year seniority for each year of employment.
Seniority means the length of continuous service as a Regular Employee within the bargaining unit with the Employer from the last date of hire, including all periods of continuous service as a Casual, Temporary or Regular Employee.

Examples of Seniority in a sentence

  • Seniority is defined as the length of service with the Employer, and shall be applied on a bargaining unit wide basis.

  • Seniority shall be the governing factor in determining promotions, demotions, order of lay-off and order of recall, and filling of jobs after posting, providing that the most senior employee possesses the required qualifications and ability to perform the normal requirements of the job.

  • Seniority shall be used in determining preference or priority for promotion, transfer, demotion, layoff, permanent reduction of the workforce, and recall, as set out in other provisions of this Agreement.

  • Section 4.1 Seniority shall be calculated from the last date of hire.

  • Casual Employee or Term Employee Seniority for a casual employee or term employee is defined as the total number of hours worked by the employee in the institution.


More Definitions of Seniority

Seniority shall be defined in accordance with the following:
Seniority means the length of continuous employment dating from the last date of hire within the bargaining unit.
Seniority means the service credit as defined in Part A Section 5.0, except for the restrictions contained in Article 10.1.2.
Seniority shall accrue to all employees in accordance with the provision of this Article. Seniority, as defined in Section 12.2 of this Article, will apply wherever employee seniority rights are established in the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
Seniority shall be defined as the length of the employee's continuous employment with the Employer, including service prior to the signing of this Agreement. Full-time employees shall be credited with seniority equivalent to their length of continuous employment. Part-time employees shall be credited with seniority based on straight-time hours paid by the Employer.
Seniority means an employee’s length of continuous full- time or part-time service on the current continuing teaching contract, with the School District; the length shall be calculated from the day the individual employee’s contract comes into effect. Providing there is no interruption of service, employees who receive a continuing appointment shall be deemed to have continuing service for the purpose of this Article.
