Harmonic distortion definition

Harmonic distortion means the mathematical represen- tation of the distortion of the pure sine waveform. Distortion of the pure sine waveform is typically caused by loads that draw current discontinuously or whose impedance varies during the cycle of the input ac voltage waveform.
Harmonic distortion. Determine total harmonic distortion
Harmonic distortion means continuous distortion of the normal sine wave; typically caused by nonlinear loads or by inverters, measured in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD);

Examples of Harmonic distortion in a sentence

  • A System Disturbance includes, but is not limited to "Harmonic Distortion" and "Phase Imbalance." A "Harmonic Distortion" is a level of current harmonic total demand distortion measured at the Delivery Point that exceeds the limits on total demand distortion described in IEEE Standard Section A "Phase Imbalance" is a use of capacity and energy in such a manner that causes a current imbalance between phases greater than 5% at the Delivery Point.
