Hospital-based physician definition

Hospital-based physician means a member of the Medical Staff who is in any one of the following Departments: Anesthesiology, Pathology/Clinical Laboratory, Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist Medicine, Radiology.
Hospital-based physician means a physician who is under contract to provide health care services to patients at a hospital or a group physician practice under contract to provide health care services to patients at a hospital. For a covered service rendered by a hospital-based physician who is not a preferred-provider, and who agrees to accept an assignment of benefits, the insured shall pay the physician within 30 days after receipt of the claim and shall pay no less than the greater of: (a) 140% of the average rate paid for the 12-month period that ends on January 1 of the previous year in the same geographic area, as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, to similarly licensed providers who are hospital-based physicians, under written contract with the insurer; or (b) the final allowed amount of the insured for the same covered service for the 12-month period that ended on January 1, 2010, inflated by the change in the Medicare Economic Index, to the hospital-based physicians billing under the same federal tax identification number the hospital-based physician used in calendar year 2009. The physician may not balance bill.
Hospital-based physician means a physician licensed by the State who is under contract to provide health care services to patients at a hospital or a group physician practice that includes physicians licensed in the State and is under contract to provide health care services to patients at a hospital.

  • Naturopathic physician means a person licensed to practice naturopathic medicine by the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine.

  • Medical physicist means a person trained in evaluating the performance of mammography equipment and facility quality assurance programs and who meets the qualifications for a medical physicist set forth in 41.6(3)“c.”

  • Specialist Physician means a licensed physician who qualifies as an attending physician and who examines a patient at the request of the attending physician or authorized nurse practitioner to aid in evaluation of disability, diagnosis, or provide temporary specialized treatment. A specialist physician may provide specialized treatment for the compensable injury or illness and give advice or an opinion regarding the treatment being rendered, or considered, for a patient’s compensable injury.
