Integrated environmental management definition
Integrated environmental management means the application of tools that ensure the identification of likely adverse effects of human activity on the environment, identification of options for mitigating such effects, and strengthening the fundamental principles set out in Article 5 of this Act.

Integrated environmental management. – means a philosophy which prescribes a code of practice for ensuring that environmental considerations are fully integrated into all stages of the development and decision-making process. The IEM philosophy (and principles) is interpreted as applying throughout typical management activities of plan, do, act and check of any proposal (project, plan, programme or policy) or activity - at the local, national and international level - that has a potentially significant effect on the environment. Implementation of this philosophy relies on the selection and application of appropriate tools to a particular proposal or activity.
