Examples of International Tribunal in a sentence
The International Tribunal shall have the power to prosecute persons responsible for serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of the former Yugoslavia since 1991 in accordance with the provisions of the present Statute.
If in the circumstances specified in paragraphs 3 and 4 of this Article the President of the International Tribunal is unable to exercise the above function or he is a national of a Contracting Party, the appointment shall be made by the Vice President.
In the case of failure to reach agreement on referral to the International Court of Justice, to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea or to arbitration, the Parties shall continue to consult and cooperate with a view to reaching settlement of the dispute in accordance with the rules of international law relating to the conservation of living marine resources.
The International Tribunal shall have the power to prosecute persons violating the laws or customs of war.
If, however, ‘circumstances so require, imprisonment may also be served in any of the States which have concluded with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda or the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia an agreement for the enforcement of sentences, and which have indicated to the Registrar of the Special Court their willingness to accept convicted persons’.
The working languages of the International Tribunal shall be English and French.
It notes, in this respect, that independent monitoring ‘is former Yugoslavia and the Government of Finland on the Enforcement of Sentences of the International Tribunal; and Article 6 of the Amended Agreement between the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda on the Enforcement of Sentences of the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
No person who is serving a sentence imposed by the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and no person who is under indictment by the Tribunal and who has failed to comply with an order to appear before the Tribunal, may stand as a candidate or hold any appointive, elective, or other public office in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Such imprisonment shall be in accordance with the applicable law of the State concerned, subject to the supervision of the International Tribunal.
The International Tribunal for Rwanda shall have jurisdiction over natural persons pursuant to the provisions of the present Statute.
