  • It is to be noted that any pupils displaced as a result of the closure of a BESD school (difficulties with behavioural, emotional and social development) should not be placed long-term or permanently in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) if a special school place is what they need.

  • In the case of exclusion it may be appropriate to transfer the record to the Pupil Referral Unit.

  • Harrow excluded pupils will be placed at the Pupil Referral Unit and the local authority will use provision to ensure that the needs of pupils who are not ready for mainstream schooling are met.
