Radiopharmaceutical definition

Radiopharmaceutical means any drug that exhibits spontaneous disintegration of unstable nuclei with the emission of nuclear particles or photons and includes any non-radioactive reagent kit or radionuclide generator that is intended to be used in the preparation of any such substance, but does not include drugs such as carbon-containing compounds or potassium-containing salts that include trace quantities of naturally occurring radionuclides. The term also includes any biological product that is labeled with a radionuclide or intended solely to be labeled with a radionuclide.

More Definitions of Radiopharmaceutical

Radiopharmaceutical means any substance defined as a drug in Section 201(g)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act which exhibits spontaneous disintegration of unstable nuclei with the emission of nuclear particles or photons and includes any of those drugs intended to be made radioactive. This includes nonradioactive reagent kits and nuclide generators which are intended to be used in the preparation of any such substance, but does not include drugs which are carbon-containing compounds or potassium-containing compounds or potassium-containing salts which contain trace quantities of naturally occurring radionuclides.
Radiopharmaceutical means any drug that emits ionizing radiation and includes:

The term "radioactive drug" includes a "radioactive biological product."
Radiopharmaceutical means a radioactive pharmaceutical used for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
Radiopharmaceutical means any drug that exhibits spontaneous disintegration of unstable nuclei with the emission of nuclear particles or photons and includes any nonradioactive reagent kit or nuclide generator that is intended to be used in the preparation of any such substance. For purposes of this Article radiopharmaceutical is equivalent to radioactive drug.
Radiopharmaceutical means any medicinal product that, when ready for use, contains one or more radionuclides (radioactive isotopes) included for a medicinal purpose;
Radiopharmaceutical means any substance defined as a drug in Section 3(b) of the Act that exhibits spontaneous disintegration of unstable nuclei with the emission of nuclear particles or photons and includes any nonradioactive reagent kit or nuclide generator that is intended to be used in the preparation of any such substance but does not include drugs such as carbon-containing compounds of potassium-containing salts that contain trace quantities of naturally occurring radionuclides. Radiopharmaceuticals include radioactive biological products as defined in the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (21 USC 301 et seq.) and regulations promulgated under that Act.
