While on such leave he/she shall be paid his regular salary, less his military pay, not to exceed a total of ten (10) working days in any one (1) calendar year. To receive payment of salary, an employee must, prior to his/her leave, file with the Office of Human Resources, a copy of the official orders, and upon return a certification from his/her commanding officer of performance of duty in accordance with terms of the orders. It shall be the policy of the University to guarantee to its permanent employees who, during a nation emergency, volunteer or are called for active military service, a position upon their return to civilian life equal to the one they left, provided that the requirements set forth in the above paragraph are fulfilled. Permanent employees, with ninety (90) days of service, volunteer or are called for active military service shall be paid from the date they leave University employ for all accrued vacation to their credit at that date. The employee, at his/her discretion, may elect not to be paid for vacation leave but to leave it to his credit for use upon returning to the department. The same policies shall be applicable to permanent employees who at any time are subject to the provisions of the Selective Service Act.
