Senior Teacher definition

Senior Teacher means a teacher, appointed as such in accordance with the provisions of this award, who has demonstrated high level skills and practice in teaching and who participates as a team member in the development of the school.

  • Service within New Zealand as a Head or Senior Teacher in a kindergarten shall be recognised for salary purposes.

More Definitions of Senior Teacher

Senior Teacher means a teacher in Band 2 of the salary scale. This classification may be achieved either by appointment by the Principal or employing authority or by meeting the requirements as set out in Clause 9 - Access to Band 2. If appointed to this classification the duties of the teacher will be determined by mutual agreement between the Principal and the teacher. If the position has been gained by meeting the requirements of Clause 9 - Access to Band 2, then the major role will be classroom teaching, but some educational management and other duties will be required.
Senior Teacher means a teacher who is employed as a senior teacher to carry out professional support and guidance, administrative and management roles under delegation from their employer. Such delegations shall be determined by the employer in agreement with the employee(s) and in accordance with the employee(s) job description. Full-time Employee means a teacher who is appointed to a position for which the total hours of work should, as far as practicable, not exceed 40 hours per week, worked from Monday to Friday inclusive. Part-time Employee means a teacher who is appointed to a position for which the total hours of work are less than 40 hours per week, worked between Monday and Friday. Hours of Work means the total hours required for employees to properly fulfil the duties and responsibilities connected with their employment, inclusive of child-contact time and professional time as per clause 2.5.
Senior Teacher means a person appointed to the role of Teacher who is a Four-Year Trained Teacher, has completed a minimum of 10 years full-time recognised teaching service, and via EOI and selection criteria, successfully demonstrates a high standard of Teacher proficiency and ongoing contribution to additional responsibilities. Recognition of Senior Teacher level at a previous employer will be considered on a case-by-case basis with supporting evidence.
Senior Teacher means a teacher certificated by the Teaching Council who provides professional support and guidance and carries out administrative and management roles under delegation from their employer across free kindergartens within or across a Kindergarten Association(s) as teacher who is employed as a senior teacher to carry out professional support and guidance, administrative and management roles under delegation from their employer. Such delegations shall be determined by the employer in agreement with the employee(s)teacher and in accordance with the employee(s)teacher’s job position description. d. Full-time Employee Teacher means a teacher who is appointed to a position for which the total hours of work should, as far as practicable, not exceed 40 hours per week, worked from Monday to Friday inclusive. e. Part-time Employee Teacher means a teacher who is appointed to a position for which the total hours of work are less than 40 hours per week, worked between Monday and Friday. f. Senior Teacher means a teacher who is responsible for coordinating the work of the equivalent of three or more additional full-time teachers.
Senior Teacher means a teacher who, before the commencement of this Agreement, was classified as a Senior Teacher 1 or Senior Teacher 2.
Senior Teacher means a “Teacher” or “Employee” as defined in 2.10 above who has been employed by the Employer for a minimum of five (5) years.
