Stand-by time definition

Stand-by time means a period of time that is not a regular working period during which an employee is required to keep himself or herself:
Stand-by time shall be any time between Bus Driver assignments of one (1) hour or less. The Bus Driver shall check in with a supervisor for duty assignment(s).
Stand-by time means an employees contractual obligation to remain at home or be otherwise available to be called to work when necessary and is not included in working hours.

Examples of Stand-by time in a sentence

  • Stand-By Time - Availability mandated by department management or supervisor to respond within a reasonable time, as defined by department policies and procedures, for off-duty court attendance or emergency response return to work.

  • Court Stand-By Time "On Call." Whenever an Association member is placed "on-call" pursuant to a court subpoena while otherwise off-duty, the member shall receive compensation for being "on-call" at the rate of two (2) hours of straight time pay for each day spent in that status.

More Definitions of Stand-by time

Stand-by time or “stand-by” means the amount of time that equipment is at an active NDC project worksite while the equipment is: (a) shutdown; (b) physically located at the NDC project work site; and (c) required at the NDC project worksite to complete upcoming work on the project.
Stand-by time means a period of time on a weekend or statutory holiday in accordance with Article 40, that is not a regular working period, during which an employee is required to keep himself or herself:
Stand-by time. A stand-by assignment is when an employee is assigned by an authorized supervisor or his designee to be available for a work assignment or court appearance on an on-call basis during a specified off-duty period of time. Employees placed on stand-by must be able to be reached at any time during the stand-by period at a designated telephone number. An employee placed on stand-by shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours at his/her overtime rate for each eight (8) hours of stand-by time. In lieu of a stand-by assignment and subject to the approval of the Chief of Police or his designee, the employee may request and be assigned to a full shift of duty.
Stand-by time means all time off regular duty wherein the City designates an employee to be on call to return to work, requiring that the employee be constantly accessible to a telephone or radio.

Payment for overtime will only be made for units of one (I) hour or more and for subsequent full fifteen
Stand-by time means a period of time that is not a regular working period during which an employee is required to keep him self or herself: (a) immediately available to receive a call to return to work, and (b) immediately available to return to the workplace. OAD10.2 No employee shall be required to be on stand-by unless such stand-by was authorized in writing by the supervisor prior to the stand-by period, except in circumstances beyond the Employer’s control. OAD10.3 Where stand-by is not previously authorized in writing, payment as per Article OAD10.4 shall only be made where the supervisor has expressly advised the employee that stand-by duty is required. OAD10.4 When an employee is required to stand-by, he or she shall receive payment of the stand-by hours at one half ( 1⁄2) his or her basic hourly rate with a minimum credit of four (4) hours pay at his or her basic hourly rate.
