Subsurface sewage treatment and disposal means the physi- cal, chemical, or biological treatment and disposal of domestic waste- water within the soil profile by placement beneath the soil surface in trenches, beds, seepage pits, mounds, or fills (Submission of plans and reports for construction of wastewater facilities, chapter 173-240 WAC).
