Total PCBs definition

Total PCBs means the sum of all homolog, all isomer, all congener or all aroclor analyses.
Total PCBs means the summation of all concentrations for Arochlor 1016, 1221, 1232, 1242, 1248, 1254, and 1260 that are above the reporting detection limit (RDL) or reporting limit (RL) of 0.001 mg/L. EPA analytical method 608 shall be used for all PCB analysis.
Total PCBs means the sum of the individual analytical results for each of the polychlorinated biphenyls aroclors 1016, 1221, 1232, 1242, 1248, 1254, and 1260 during any single sampling event with any aroclor result less than the quantification level being treated as zero.

Examples of Total PCBs in a sentence

  • If multiple Aroclors are detected, they should be summed and reported as Total PCBs. If congener specific analysis is done using Method 8082A, clean up steps of the extract shall be performed as necessary to remove interference and to achieve as close to a limit of detection of 0.003 mg/kg as possible for each congener.

  • If multiple Aroclors are detected, they should be summed and reported as Total PCBs. If the LOD cannot be achieved after using the appropriate clean up techniques, a reporting limit that is achievable for the Aroclors or each congener for the sample shall be determined.

  • For the purpose of reporting on the Discharge Monitoring Reports, the permittee shall calculate concentration and loading levels of Total PCBs in this same manner; however, the result of any individual aroclor measurement less than the quantification level but greater than the detection level shall be reported on the Daily Discharge Monitoring Reports (see Part II.C.2.).
