Total solids definition

Total solids means the sum of suspended and dissolved solids.
Total solids means total solids are the total of all solids in a sample. They include the total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, and volatile suspended solids.
Total solids means total weight expressed in mg/l of all solids: dissolved, undissolved, organic, or inorganic.

Examples of Total solids in a sentence

  • Total solids are the solids remaining after evaporation of a sample to constant weight at 105°C and include TSS and dissolved solids (DS).

  • Total solids is the weight of material in the aluminum pan after heating divided by the net weight of sample added to the pan origi- nally times 100.

  • Total solids (TS), volatile solids (VS) and pH were determined according to standard methods (APHA, 2005).

  • Total solids (TS) and volatile solids (VS) were measured using Standard Method 2540 G (APHA, 2005).

  • Definition 2.1 here or [21, Definition 2.1]) is a quite weak and good condition to impose on SU(2) Yang–Mills instantons in the ALF scenario: we shall see shortly that it is a sharp but easily satisfied condition moreover can be used in all known classes of ALF spaces (both the Ka¨hler and non-Ka¨hler examples) to rule out SU(2) Yang–Mills instantons with continuous energy.

More Definitions of Total solids

Total solids means the materials that remain as residue after the residuals have been dried at between 103 and 105 degrees Celsius until they reach a constant mass.
Total solids means the materials in the sewage sludge that remain as residue if the sludge is dried at 103 to 105 degrees Celsius.
Total solids means the materials in sewage sludge that remain as residue when the sewage sludge is dried at 103 to 105° Celsius.
Total solids means solids that either float on the surface of, or are in suspension or dissolved in water, Sewage or other liquids, and which are determined by an Accredited Laboratory.
Total solids means the materials in sewage sludge or sewage sludge material that remain as residue when the sewage sludge or sewage sludge material is dried at one hundred three to one hundred five degrees Celsius.
Total solids means solids that remain after all liquid has been evaporated, expressed in milligrams per liter. The values shall be as determined by the methods of Analytical Testing.
Total solids means all matter that remains as residue upon evaporation at 103 degrees Centigrade to 105 degrees Centigrade. Total solids, or residue upon evaporation, can be classified as either nonfilterable (suspended) solids or filterable (dissolved) solids by passing a known volume of liquid through a filter (as described in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewaters, current edition, or Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for the Analysis of Pollutants, contained in 40 CFR 136, as published in the Federal Register).
