Trading Center definition

Trading Center means a national securities exchange or national securities association that operates an SRO trading facility, an ATS, an exchange market maker, an OTC market maker, or any other broker or dealer that executes orders internally by trading as principal or crossing orders as agent. 17 CFR 242.600(b)(78). Some trading centers, such as OTC market makers, also offer dark liquidity, primarily in a principal capacity, and do not operate as ATSs. For purposes of this adopting release, these trading centers are not defined as dark pools because they are not ATSs.
Trading Center has the same meaning as that term is defined in Rule 600(b)(82) of Regulation NMS.
