The mentor shall also ensure that neither they, nor any of their agents shall commit any act that would constitute direct or indirect discrimination against any person on the grounds of sex, marital status, race, colour, creed, nationality or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, family status, sexual orientation, membership of the Traveller community, disability or any other ground that would constitute discrimination.
Across the city over 142,000 people have no formal qualifications (23.2% of all people aged 16 and over) with rates ranging from 7.2% in the Arab community to 56.3% in the Gypsy / Irish Traveller community and 27.1% in the Muslim community.

Of these ‘lost’ learners in LMETB, learners from the Traveller community are evident, however it should be noted also that LMETB did increase their reach to learners declaring they had a disability over this period, albeit this has not yet retuned to 2019 levels.
An example of an initiative with successful outcomes includes a unique project on camper van conversion to support men from the Traveller community which led to 13 further projects in family learning.
Participation by learners from the Traveller community has declined during the pandemic and KWETB will focus on reengaging with those learners with targeted community- led projects In partnership with AHEAD, KWETB has rolled out an upskilling initiative across staff around Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to improve the way in which learning is developed and delivered for people with disabilities.
In relation to the Traveller community, the Department is engaging with the local authorities, the HSE and the National Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee (NTACC) on measures that need to be taken to protect Travellers.
We will specifically welcome and support students from the Traveller community.
