Washington Convention definition

Washington Convention means the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States opened for signature in Washington on 18 March 1965, the text of which is set out in Schedule 3.

Examples of Washington Convention in a sentence

  • If the dispute cannot be settled within six (6) months from the date on which the dispute has been raised by either party, it shall be submitted upon request of either of the parties to the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) established by the Washington Convention of 18 March 1965 on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of other States, in the event the Republic of Tajikistan becomes a party to this Convention.

  • Each Contracting Party hereby consents to submit to ICSID any such dispute for settlement under the said Washington Convention.

  • Until that moment the dispute shall be submitted to conciliation or arbitration procedure to be mutually agreed upon on the basis of the Washington Convention.

  • Such insurance shall name National Academy of Sciences; ▇▇▇▇▇▇, Inc.; ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, Inc.; Washington Convention and Sports Authority, its Board of Directors, officers, and employees; and the Government of the District of Columbia each as an additional insured.

  • For the purpose of this Article and Article 25(2)(b) of the said Washington Convention, any legal person which is constituted in accordance with the legislation of one Contracting Party and which, before a dispute arises, was controlled by an investor of the other Contracting Party, shall be treated as a national of the other Contracting Party.

  • B) Arbitration at the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, which was created under the Washington Convention dated March 18, 1965 regarding settlement of investment disputes between countries and nationals of other countries, in the event of accession or upon the accession of the contracting parties to this Agreement.

  • Each Contracting Party shall execute them in accordance with its laws and in accordance with the New York Convention or the Washington Convention.

  • The Exhibitor agrees that it shall comply with all Federal and District of Columbia laws and regulations, and with all Washington Convention Center Authority rules, policies, and procedures.

  • The consent given by each Contracting Party i and the submission of the dispute under paragraph (2) shall constitute the written consent written agreement of the parties to the dispute to its submission for settlement for the purposes of Chapter III of the Washington Convention (Jurisdiction of the Centre) and for the purpose of the Additional Facility Rules, Article 1 of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, the Rules of Arbitration of the ICC and Article II of the New York Convention.
