School Transportation. The Grantee, or any operator of mass transportation acting on its behalf, shall not engage in school bus operations exclusively for the transportation of students or school personnel in competition with private school bus operators, except as provided under 49 USC §5323 (f) and applicable regulations, “School Bus Operations,” set forth at 49 CFR Part 605, as amended. Any school bus agreement entered into under these regulations is incorporated into this Grant by reference.
School Transportation. Each day, the VENDOR shall deploy approximately sufficient school buses to transport approximately four thousand (4,000) students to and from school. For each Home-to-School route, the pricing system used in the PROPOSAL is based upon the length of day the specific vehicle is in use on behalf of the DISTRICT, including deadhead times as described, and stipulated pre/post trip times. Routes (defined as actual ride time) cannot be longer than sixty (60) minutes in duration. The daily usage shall be determined based upon the scheduled run length as determined by the DISTRICT where the bus is in direct service to the DISTRICT, including a fifteen (15) minute pre/post trip time for each AM, mid- day (if not continuous time), and PM run. School Transportation. The School may provide occasional and sporadic transportation to students by vans or vehicles other than school buses and in such event shall be solely and fully responsible for compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations without compliance review by the District. If the School desires to provide daily transportation to its students by school bus, it shall first submit a plan to the District for approval before providing such services and shall submit any proposed plan amendments to the District’s transportation director for approval before implementing such amendments. The plan or amendments shall include assurances that the School’s delivery of transportation complies with all applicable laws, rules and regulations promulgated by the federal or state governments, including those concerning vehicle safety and driver qualifications, and a procedure to allow the District’s transportation department to review the School’s compliance documentation on a quarterly basis. If the plan or proposed amendments meet the requirements of this Section, the District’s approval shall not be unreasonably withheld.

School Transportation. The system does not guarantee transportation for students who reside within the limited transportation zones (as shown). The system may provide transportation for students living within the limited transportation zones if they reside on an existing route and if space is available. Outside of the limited transportation zones, students residing within 1/4 mile of established bus routes must provide their own transportation to the pickup point on the main route. Parents of system transported students are solely responsible for their student's care, custody, supervision and control until the student boards the bus. On return from school, parents assume these same responsibilities once their student steps off the bus. Students transported by the system are required to follow the Bus Rules which are set forth later in this publication. Parents should review the Bus Rules in detail with their students. System transportation is a privilege, which may be revoked upon failure to obey and comply with the Bus Rules. The school discipline code is applicable to all students transported by the system. Parents of students not transported by the system are solely responsible for the student's transportation, care, custody, supervision and control until the student enters the school. Parents assume these same responsibilities once their student exits the school. Students who ride bicycles to school must leave the bicycle parked in designated areas until end of the school day, unless permission is obtained from the principal or the principal's designee, to use said bicycle.
