Common use of Additional Interscholastic Opportunities Clause in Contracts

Additional Interscholastic Opportunities. To the extent that the District adds any sports or additional levels of teams at any of its high schools, the District will provide those team(s) in a manner comparable to other interscholastic teams, with sufficient funds in its budgets to cover expenses that include, but are not limited to: coaches, equipment and supplies, travel funds, and publicity and support services. The District will also publicize any new sports or additional levels of teams through written notices, verbal announcements and postings on the District’s website. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS – SECTION III By September 14, 2013, if the District was obligated to offer additional athletic opportunities pursuant to Section III of this Agreement, the District will provide OCR with a detailed report that reflects the steps taken by the District pursuant to Sections III(1)-(4) of this Agreement, to create new opportunities for female students as the underrepresented sex. This report will detail the timetable for the addition of new sports, levels of sports or newly-created club and/or other opportunities added pursuant to this Agreement. It will also describe how the creation of additional athletics opportunities taken pursuant to this Agreement will either (1) effectively accommodate the expressed interests and abilities of female students (i.e., there remains no unmet interest and ability); or (2) elevate female students’ participation rate in District interscholastic athletics programs to be substantially proportionate to their rate of enrollment at each District high school. 1. By February 1, 2013, if the District’s assessment demonstrates that it is fully and effectively accommodating the athletic interests and abilities of its female high school students at each high school, the District will submit information detailing its determination of the same. 2. By August 1 of each academic year covered by this Agreement (2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015), the District will provide OCR with a copy of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (“NCHSAA”) athletic eligibility summary form for the previous school year for each team at each District high school. 3. By August 1 of each academic year covered by this Agreement (2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2014-2015), the District will provide information demonstrating the breakdown/enrollment by sex at each District high school. 4. By August 1 of each academic year covered by this Agreement (2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2014-15), the District will provide information regarding any increases to the size of its squads, as described by Section III.1.b. above.

By August 1 November 30 of each academic school year covered by this Agreement (20122014-20132015, 20132015-20142016, and 20142016-152017), the District LCSD will provide information regarding any increases to the size of its squads, as described by Section III.1.b. III.1(b), above.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS – SECTION III By September 14, 2013, if the District was obligated to offer additional athletic opportunities pursuant to Section III II of this Agreement, the District will provide OCR with a detailed report that reflects the steps taken by the District pursuant to Sections III(1)-(4II(A)(1)-(5) of this Agreement, to create new additional opportunities at the School for female students as the underrepresented sex. This report will detail the timetable for the addition of new sports, levels of sports or newly-created intramural, club and/or other opportunities added pursuant to this Agreement. It will also describe how the creation of additional athletics opportunities taken pursuant to this Agreement will either (1) fully and effectively accommodate the expressed interests and abilities of female students (i.e., there remains no unmet interest and ability); or (2) elevate female students’ participation rate in District the School's interscholastic athletics programs program to be substantially proportionate to their rate of enrollment at each District high schoolin the School. 1. By February 1B. For the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years, 2013by September 1 for fall sports, if the District’s assessment demonstrates that it is fully December 1 for winter sports and effectively accommodating the athletic interests and abilities of its female high school students at each high school, the District will submit information detailing its determination of the same. 2. By August May 1 of each academic year covered by this Agreement (2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015)for spring sports, the District will provide OCR with a copy of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (“NCHSAA”) athletic eligibility summary form for the previous school year squad list for each team at the School, as verified and attested to by the Athletic Director or coach of each District high schoolteam. 3. C. By August 1 September 30 of each academic school year covered by this Agreement (20122017-2013, 201318 and 2018-2014, and 2014-201519 school years), the District will provide information demonstrating the breakdown/enrollment by sex at each District high schoolthe School. 4. By August D. For the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years, by September 1 of each academic year covered by this Agreement (2012-2013for fall sports, 2013-2014, December 1 for winter sports and 2014-15)May 1 for spring sports, the District will provide information regarding describing any increases to the size of its School squads, as described by Section III.1.bII.(A)1.b. above. A. The District will develop a process or procedure for students or other interested parties, such as coaches or parents, to use in requesting the addition of new sports or levels of sports at the School. The procedure will be written and notice of it will be published by November 1, 2016 in the Student Handbook and the individual responsible for responding to any requests will be identified by name and contact information. This information will also be displayed prominently on the School’s website by November 1, 2016.
